When using a 10% solution of potassium metabisulfite, does the sulphite level in the solution degrade over time? If so when should it be discarded and replaced?

I usually make a 1/2 litre batch in the Fall (500ml distilled H2O w/ 50g Kmeta). This usually carries me thru fermentation, pressing, and a rack or two. I assume there’s some degradation after 3 months or so, but no proof of that. Cheap and easy to make more, so there’s no downside. Also keep in very cool dark place.

Maybe I’m playing with fire with my assumptions. If so, let me Know!

Is there a way of measuring the concentration of potassium metabisulfite in the supposed 10% solution over  a time span of several months?
